Ejari (Arabic for "my rent") is the official tenancy registration system managed by the Dubai Land Department (DLD). Every tenancy contract in Dubai must be registered in Ejari — without it, your contract has no legal standing.
Why Ejari Is Mandatory
1. Legal protection — An unregistered tenancy cannot be enforced at the RERA Rental Dispute Settlement Centre
2. DEWA connection — Dubai Electricity and Water Authority requires a valid Ejari certificate to connect utilities in your name
3. Residence visa — Required for family visa applications and visa renewals
4. School enrolment — Many Dubai schools require Ejari as proof of residence
5. Bank accounts — Some banks accept Ejari in lieu of a utility bill for address verification

How Much Does Ejari Cost?
Ejari charges are set by the Dubai Land Department. As of the current DLD schedule, online registration through Dubai REST is around AED 177.75 (AED 100 registration + AED 10 Knowledge Fee + AED 10 Innovation Fee + AED 55 service-partner fee + AED 2.75 VAT); registration through a real-estate service trustee centre is listed at AED 220. Renewal registration is charged the same way. All figures are subject to the DLD's current requirements.
